No-exam life insurance
Eligibility criteria for expedited underwriting, the approval procedure, and what happens without it.
These days expedited underwriting is common: companies at specified age and coverage limits can approve using just the application itself, prescription information, driving history and other records instead of a physical paramedical exam. Approvals sometimes take hours. This page's quotes tell you for each option if an exam is needed, possibly required, or waived.
What it changes
Fast-track underwriting still involves thorough review—not skipping it. Information on your application gets cross-checked, and a policy from an inaccurate application can be rescinded in the first 24 months. If a carrier's records raise concerns, they might order an exam or tests; you then pick whether to go ahead.
Who tends to qualify
Usually younger applicants (under approximately 60) pursuing coverage amounts within a carrier's accelerated approval limits, with no serious health issues and tobacco-free status for at least a year. If you've had a recent exam with bloodwork at your doctor's office, some companies will accept those results in place of their exam.
Should an exam be necessary, expect a 20 to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical professional at your residence or workplace in the Sacramento area, at no charge. For healthy applicants, test results frequently lead to improved rate tier, so an exam isn't always bad news.
